At the ASG Senate meeting on the 19th of November, Bill Pulte actually was confirmed by the Senate. In this way, Pulte’s appointment was done like any other midterm appointment with exactly the same oversight as is used to fill any vacancy.

Moreover, to claim that this position was created through an undemocratic process is not wholly accurate. This position was originally created last year through the explicit consent of more than two thirds of Senate. Additionally, in the future, this position will be elected by the senate in a similar way to how many executive board members are currently elected.

If you would like to fact check these editorials in the future, please feel free to contact me.

-Jack Eichorst
Speaker of the Senate, ASG

Fight the Smears

Fact: This past spring, Bill Pulte was the campaign manager for Neal Sales-Griffin’s opponent, Blake Yocum. Prior to the VP Selection process, they had met 3 times.

Fact: Bill Pulte has never been a member of ISBE, let alone affiliated with ISBE.

Fact: Both the VP and HR Director positions were confirmed by elected ASG senators, as seen in the ASG Code amendments passed this past spring.

Fact: The VP appointment was made by not solely by Neal Sales-Griffin, but also by the Academic VP, Student Services VP, External Relations Director, and Community Relations Director, with whom the VP directly works with.

Fact: It’s spelled “Neal,” not “Neil.” C’mon, Daily. You can’t get your facts right, but at the very least, spell the guy’s name correctly. NBN seems to be able to. http://www.northbynorthwestern.com/category/1-content/northwestern/on-campus/the-purple-line/#14024

Fact: The Daily should be embarrassed for publishing an editorial with so many misstated facts and complete falsehoods.

oh ko

So I’ve been slightly negligent in updating this thing as often as I probably should, but it’s time to get down to business.

What’s on the slate with ASG this quarter:

securing funding for continuing the Saturday Chicago Shuttle (oh heck yes)

electronic course packet program (free the masses from the oppression of the 4-string clones)

ASG Undergraduate Research Database (find your research opportunities here)

CTEC rankings (woah. aggregating all our ctecs for ease of comparison?!?! what the ridiculous?!)

Get GPS-tracking on shuttles! (it’s time to pin down those slippery devils)

think pep rally. except way bigger.

weekly press releases

pep rallies are so cool i just had to say it twice

caucuses for Senate (nice! open argument, woot!)

improvement of the Student Group Resource Center (what’s that?—-it’s the little room right next to the ASG office on the third floor of Norris with cool computers and printers)

pep raaaalllliiieeeessss!!!

online database of ASG documents, minutes, and other important historical stuff

oh, and a fancy new blog author. suh-weet. =)

Poverty

Neal: I'd be taking a hit in terms of pay: $40,000 - $50,000 a year.
Me: That's the truth. So what does that mean? We will always be busy...it's worth it, right?
Michael: Haha. Wrong person to be asking that to. I mean...There are times when you are like, WHAT THE F*$% AM I DOING!!! It's Saturday night, and I'm sending out emails, preparing for meetings and shit. And the fact that I don't watch my favorite tv shows, or go out to movies. Then you think, why I am doing this? But...we still do it
Me: Aw s*$%. That's tumblr worthy. Why we still do this s*$%.
Michael: Because we never get to that point when we truly question what we are doing. Because we know that its right. That's why we sacrifice, because we believe in what we are doing.

Favorite NU: Deering Library

Favorite NU: Deering Library
